Each year, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) ranks the innovation performance of nearly 130 countries around the world by examining both the conditions necessary for innovation and the new creations that result from it.
In 2022 and for the 12th year in a row, Switzerland is at the top of the WIPO Global Innovation Index (GII).
This very good ranking for Switzerland is mostly due to its patent families, its software spending, its high technologies in manufacturing and complexity of production and exports and its dynamic economic environment.
This year, Switzerland is ahead of the United States and Sweden, which are ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively. Diversified ranking with newcomers is expected in the coming years.
