Article très intéressant d’une équipe scientifique française du Pr. Dominique Salmon-Ceron sur les symptômes post-COVID, et plus particulièrement sur l’anosmie.
L’équipe a observé des symptômes qui apparaissent / persistent alors que les patients vont mieux, quelques temps après la phase aiguë. L’anosmie fait partie de ces symptômes avec 10% des patients qui ne récupèrent pas complètement l’odorat après la maladie.
L’équipe du Pr. Salmon-Ceron a lancé l’essai COVIDORL en collaboration avec les ORL Drs Mary Daval et Charlotte Hautefort et dont la promotion est assurée par la Fondation Rothschild. Cet essai consiste à proposer des lavages de nez par budésonide (corticoïde) plusieurs fois par jour et pendant plusieurs semaines, pour que le patient récupère son sens de l’odorat. L’équipe prévient qu’il ne faut pas attendre pour consulter car on ne connaît pas les causes des anosmies post-COVID ni les niveaux du système olfactif auxquels elles agissent.

Very interesting article from a French scientific team of Pr. Dominique Salmon-Ceron on post-COVID symptoms, and more particularly on anosmia
The team observed symptoms that appear / persist while patients are getting better, some time after the acute phase. Anosmia is one of these symptoms, with 10% of patients not fully recovering their sense of smell after the disease.
Prof. Salmon-Ceron’s team launched the COVIDORL trial in collaboration with ENT specialists Drs. Mary Daval and Charlotte Hautefort and promoted by the Rothschild Foundation. This trial consists of offering nose washes with budesonide (corticoid) several times a day and for several weeks, so that the patient recovers his sense of smell. The team warns that one should not wait to consult as the causes of post-COVID anosmias and the levels of the olfactory system at which they act are not known.
